PBQ - Comprehensive Management Project of the Surgical Center

The PBQ - Comprehensive Management Project of the Surgical Center is a service of Antares Consulting that accompanies hospitals and health organizations to optimize and improve the management and organization of the surgical center.

Every Minute Counts

The misallocation of time between surgical services, inefficiences in the process of programming interventions, and the lack of standardized procedures and criteria causes:

  • Delays, loss of time, and avoidable cancellations; resulting in a low employment rate, and
  • A low occupancy rate reversed is an important opportunit cost, both socially and economically. The fixed cost per unit of an operating room is between 7.5 and 12 euros, whethere it is occupied or not.

The majority of these dysfunctions originate from the way we plan, organize, and manage resources and activities.

The PBQ is inteded to:

  • Improve the management of surgical resources to significantly increase their efficiency and production capacity.
  • Redefine the organization and the key processes of the surgical operation, establish the criteria, processes, and management systems.

The Comprehensive Management Project of the Surgical Center lasts between 8 and 12 weeks and consists of two phases:

  • Diagnosis: identification of the main dysfunctions and inefficiencies and the potential for improvement.
  • Vision, objectives and action plan: definition of the axis, objectives of improvement, and action plans.

Furthermore, depending on your needs we offer a range of additional services:

  • supporting and monitoring action plans: accompanying the organization in the launch and implementation of the action plans;
  • management tools: to create and make available a number of instruments and management tools to those responsible of the surgical center and institution;
  • training in Surgical Center Management and Change Managament: conduct training sessions for those responsible for surgery and the surgical activities in surgical management and change management.
  • Benchmarking: a report with data and information sets of surgical centers, compare hospital data with those and make conclusions with elements of improvement.
